My 2026 Forester caught fire while driving. Fire came out from the side electrical switches on the driver's seat. My husband had to jump out over flames. The car has been totaled. The car had burnt because of an electrical issue in the drivers seat. On my extended warranty, it states a coverage of up to $200 for a rental in the event I should need one. I was not offered a loaner from the dealership when we initially stopped by to inform them of the total loss due to an electrical malfunction. I had a pre-scheduled foot surgery the following Friday and needed to rent a car as I would not be able to get into our 4 wheel drive pickup at the hospital because of a cast. We had the rental for a total of 4 days with a cost of over $200. I am getting nowhere with Subaru Advocacy. They refuse to pay a dime of it. Any suggestions? We are in disbelief, as this is clearly Subaru's cheapest way out. Not looking to sue, but at this point, it's getting more tempting. But, I will finish with this, the dealership we had purchased from has stepped up to the plate on their end and has ordered us a new Forester at no cost to us other than the insurance check. They have since given us a loaner to use until the new one arrives.
