I’m interested in purchasing a 2026 Forrester hybrid I know it’s early in the car year for this but is the car very much the same as the 2025 and has there been any glaring issues with this model? Consumer Reports gives it a very good rating my current car is a 2016 Prius with almost 300,000 trouble free miles Reliability and low. Repaires is a priority for me.

There is something interesting about the "model year". My Forester Touring Hybrid was made in September 2025 but was listed as a 2025 model year and not a 2026 model year (no explanation from dealer as to why). Also, from the dealer (which may or may not be accurate) he was saying that the drivetrain is from Toyota so it should be very reliable (key word should). I only have about 400 miles on it so it is way too early to say anything about reliability.

I am considering a 2025 / 2026 Forester - do you find the infotainment system a deal breaker? I have not test drove one yet but i really like the looks etc but the Info system could be a deal breaker for me - any thoughts ?

interested why this may be a deal breaker for you. I have a 2022 Touring and I like the bigger screen in the '25/'26 model and the fact that they got rid of the "extra" screen on top.

I bought the 2025 Forester Hybrid new at the dealer. It's been great. At 20k miles, engine performance is strong. MPG-e has dipped from 37 to 35 (could be my driving habits are not as fixed as they were at first). I do not like the multimedia performance. Slow response time when you tap, SiriusXM and radio will not unmute after muting even though display shows its unmuted. Another complaint is the apparent difficulty 80% of passengers have buckling the rear seatbelts. I drive rideshare and have upwards of 20+ persons per day and its a pretty consistent complaint. To me, these are minor issues. In all other ways, the car performance is fantastic so far.

This is correct for the Forester and Solterra. Outback, Ascent, & some models of Crosstrek are made in Indiana. I would assume any hybrid or all-electric models yet to come will be made in Japan.

Personally (just my opinion, your mileage may vary :) ) I really like it. It recognized me as a registered driver and arranged the seat and mirrors (I saved my preferences). Sound system is really great (more like a concert hall than a car). I have an Android phone and I connected via Bluetooth only (while the phone was charging wirelessly on the pad), no problem whatsoever. I do have problems with damn Google Maps but that was way before the car (yes, installed/reinstalled, changed preference, the tech "support" is inexistent/incompetent/could not care less - the "joy" of dealing with a monopoly). Also keep in mind that my other car is 8 year old so I might be biased. Drive the car, both on surface streets AND ON THE FREEWAY (I can't emphasize this enough) and see for yourself. If the dealer would not let you do that (just get on a ramp, accelerate to see how that works, how the car feels at 60/70 mph) walk away and find a dealer who does. At freeway speeds the tire and road noise are really hushed and the sound system is crystal clear. One thing I don't like is that I can't find the setting to display the rpms, but it might be my fault.
