Using Ratchet Straps

I am an owner of a 2020 Outback. Using the manufacturer's roof racks how do you attach the hook of a ratchet strap when there are no holes to secure it. Is there some accessory that can be purchased that would allow the hook of the ratchet strap to be secure. I've had to crisscross the straps using a luggage carrier and the straps slide on the racks because the hooks have no place be secured. Little disappointed in Subaru's design. Any suggestions?

There are mounting hooks on the roof rails. Look at the front and rear of where the cross bars sit when not in use and you will see them.
