this is my first time here but bare with me.
I have an 04 Forester XT with about 185k miles on her. A few weeks ago it started making a strange noise while accelerating. At first I thought it might be the drive belts or pulleys since I had just done an oil change maybe I got some oil on the belt. (I can get messy). Replaced the belts and checked all the pulleys\bearings. Noise is still there.
My next thought was that it might be the gearbox. Replaced the gear oil, and the noise is still there. Turned out I was a quart low on gear oil, so Im glad I did that. But now I have no idea what this noise is. I plan to upload a video of the sound after this post.
The noise seems to be as follows. It happens in 2nd and 3rd gear. around 2500-3500rpms. and is kind of like a whining, kind of like a whistling
