Self Dimming Headlights...

D

D O A

I have a '04 Forester & when I slow down, (stopping, turning a corner,
etc.,) my headlights dim. My nephews Legacy does the same thing & he
said he thought it was normal, but, it just seems strange. The dealer,
of course wouldn't give free advice, they said to bring it in & they'd
check it out, ( for about $75.00.) Does anybody else have this happen
with their car?Any ideas?

Thanks.....

Ever had the alternator replaced? Maybe an undersized one (in how many
max amps it provides) was installed as the replacement.

It does sound like maybe the alternator is cutting out at low speed.
I think I'd check the battery posts, clamps and grounds first. Cleaning the
battery posts and clamps might do wonders?

I don't think it's the alternator.

It's poor circuit design. The circuit allows lower voltage to appear in the
head lights when other electrical stuff is happening; blinker lights, brake
lights, fans, etc.

Even with a new bat and alternator mine did that.

It doesn't hurt anything, so it's just annoying.
