Question re: USB playback

I just bought a 2024 Crosstrek and am finding that when playing music from a USB drive, sometimes the last song played will continue to play after vehicle is restarted, but at other times it reverts to an earlier file and re-reads the entire playlist. Pausing a song before shutting off isn't a consistent method to assure replay, I have noticed.
Is there a way to prevent auto-play of a USB drive?

Sophocles. mine doesnt seem to recognize any scan disk in the USB port. I have formatted to fat32 but still no luck. You?

i found that it takes several seconds to recognize a high capacity FAT32 stick, it would be nice if i could tell the system to *always* default to "folder" mode rather than song, genre, and all the other crud before it gets to "folder". i've had this experience with two recent thumb drives.
