I have a 2016 Forester and my headlight covers have developed a haze on the inside of the covers. Anyone have a suggestion on how to tackle this problem?

Inside? You'd have to take them apart to try to remedy that. Certainly easier to replace them.

if you REALLY want to fix it without buying new youll have to take them apart, the butyl that holds the lense on can be softened enough to pry apart by putting the headlight in the oven (really) or with a heatgun and a bunch of wedges. as for tackling the haze best i could recommend is probably automotive polish compound on a foam wheel for a drill

Are you sure the haze is on the inside? Most of the time if on the outside there are polishes that improve the covers quite well. I’ve used “Meguiars Plastx” (I’m sure there others), and it made a huge improvement. That said it has become a maintenance thing I do every year.

The only inside ones I've seen are Volvos...because everything Volvo sucks.

Just did the purple car recently.

you masked around the lights. Must have used a buffer? What product did you use. Looks good!

No machine. All by hand. That just ensures no abrasion on the paint.

I use primarily the clarifying compound, but there are other steps in turtle wax headlight lens restorer. Mine is old. The newer kit is different and may be worse/better.

Wax after.

It’s definitely on the inside of both the left and right lens. Trying to find a way to clean the lens as opposed to replacing them altogether. The haze/moisture has no detrimental effect on headlight quality. It just simply doesn’t look good.

If they're peeling, which they likely are if it is on the inside, the solution is replacement. Many cars have just the lenses available. I'm not sure if they are much cheaper than the assemblies. Rock Auto has a ton of stuff.
