Ignition lock

When I shut off my 2012 Impreza Sport the ignition lock sometimes does not let me turn the key to the position that will allow me to pull the key out. (I say "sometimes " because this doesn't happen for maybe a week but will then do it every day) . I found out that (again , sometimes)cycling the shift lever P to D a couple times will let me then turn the key off the way.
Suggestions?

Had this problem with 2016 Outback. Happened like your until it refused to release the key period. Subaru dealer said it was a plate problem under the drive, park, etc. stick. They replace it and has worked fine since. My auto mechanic said this must be a common problem for them to have the replacement in stock.
