Help! trying to verify sensor!

08 Subaru 2.5i SOHC. Just had some.work done and there is a sensor on the front left right behind the valve solenoid/right above the cam sensor. It's a single word sensor that threads in. Trying to figure out this sensor is/does. Cannot find info on it anywhere! The connector for this sensor broke. Tried a quick repair with a spade terminal. Kind of works but excess vibration causes a missed connection which in turn cause it too miss and throw a cam sensor code. But this is NOT the cam sensor, it located close too it and I think it has some to do with it though
