AC Issues

My AC on my Impreza has been acting weird. Occasionally it would blow hot air, so I checked the refrigerant with a gauge and it seemed okay. Eventually the compressor was kicking on and off more than I thought it should, so I took it to the shop. They replaced the compressor ($1700). It worked okay for a bit but then started blowing warm again, so I took it back to the shop. They had it for three full days and then called and said they found a short in the relay (I think that was how he put it) to the compressor. Mind you, I had swapped two relays but I’m not sure if there is one solely for the compressor. The one I swapped to assess was just labeled “AC” and I didn’t test it with a multimeter.

Fast forward to today on the hour long commute home from work, and it got warm again. I tried everything I could think of to try and make sure the compressor was engaging and found that if I changed the blower from face to windshield, it would get cold again. Does anyone know what else to check too?

This video is for reference. It is two separate videos combined into one. The first is just the car idling, AC set to 2/4 and recirculating. The second is having the Mrs switch from windshield to face with the blower and recording the compressor. I’m lost and fear the shop is too

Your mechanic is scamming you for a boat payment. Find a reputable shop and then get your money back from shop one.

You need to see an A/C specialist. Your average Jumoke mechanic doesn't understand them..

Almost agree without knowing more
Sounds like it was low on freon, and they could not find a leak
So, they replaced the compressor thinking that was it
Now it still leaks and they are grasping at straws
You inspect the condenser closely (yourself) with a good flashlight for rock damage and any sign of oil and report back
