Hi Everyone,

New to the forum and just picked up my Crosstrek on NYE. I really want to put a hitch on for my MTB, but it looks like the factory and some of the after market hitches hang much lower than the ones on the Outback Wilderness. I would love for there to be a cutout in the bumper to keep the full clearance. Anyone have ideas on how to address this?

Thanks!!

I've been research hitches for my 23 OBW. From what I can tell, most of the installations require cutting a template in the rear bumper to accommodate the hitch. I'll post when I get mine installed.

What did you find out on this hitch installation?
I have a 24 Wilderness on order and will definitely need a hitch. I've installed a few myself from trailer.com, but not on a Subaru.

Not sure if yours is same as my 21, but got mine from etrailer.com and had to ream out one hole and pop the rubber exhaust mount off, installed in less than an hour. All you see is the receiver. Main hitch is hidden.

Had the same worry so I got the hidden hitch… however, I’ve seen a few with the new specs/install and it looks sweet without compromising clearance. Would have preferred that…Good luck either way!

Just got a new 2024 CTW and decided to let the dealer install it since it required cutting the plastic rear bumper. I've installed some hitches in the past on pickups an my 2015 Mazda 3, but it didn't require any cutting of the plastic body. The use some trim around the cutout and it's glued in place. In fact, it had to be done twice since the first time it shifted.
