Hey guys,
I have a 2018 Subaru Impreza that recently blew the head gasket on an engine with roughly 70k miles. I finally got around to buying a brand new engine and swapping it out for the old one. When the first engine blew, there was the telltale sign of billowing white smoke and a sweet smell from the coolant. Now with the new engine, everything seems to be okay, except I’m getting that same smoke and smell upon medium to hard acceleration and maybe a barely noticeable engine shudder on idle. Could this just be the coolant clearing out from the previous debacle or am I looking at another blown gasket?
PS: this new engine has just under 20k miles so I’m hoping it’s not the latter but don’t want to give myself a false sense of security.
