To buy or not to buy a 2005 Forester?

I am considering buying a 2005 Forrester with 170,000 miles on it. The mechanic said it is in decent mechanical shape, however, it burns oil and I will need to put in a timing belt which is about $900. Is $4500 a good price in this market?
