Hi guys
I have a 2009 Forester - ej253 - flat 4 N/A 5 spd manual.
Struggling to find cause to a ticking noise.
Sounds exactly the same as valve slap, however, have had the motor out twice, the first time it was professionally machined -took 7thou off the heads
I've triple checked valve clearance both times, and the tick remains. When putting a stethoscope on the motor to find where the noise is most prominent, it is on the fuel rail at the injectors. New injectors, too.
Was suspecting fuel pressure issue, but the car presents literally no issues accept making this noise.
I know these motors are prone to slap noise, but this is so loud that I can't go through a drive through.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
