Subaru knocker gets a slap!

Below are the best parts of a thread on our local newsgroup uk. local.kent
which you may find amusing....I did!!

Last night at Thurrock Services we encountered a huge gathering of
Subaru drivers, many of whose vehicles had the handy plastic luggage
racks mounted on the rear hatch, and all of whose vehicles had
defective silencers and a nasty tendency to wheel-spin when moving
off. There were hundreds of them. There were also people taking
video and still shots of the cars, and there was a noticeable police
presence, including a sporty-looking vehicle which bore the legend
*"ANPR Intercept Unit", presumably to deal with any stolen or
unlicensed cars that were about.
* Automatic Number Plate Recognition'...a UK Big Brother thing.

When we returned to our car after using the facilities, all the
Subarus were moving off in a cloud of smoke, amidst deafening noise
and hooting. It reminded me of those wild-life films where the
wildebeest are starting their mass migration to their winter feeding
grounds.

We were unlucky enough later to get caught up in a herd of them
(Subarus, that is, not wildebeests) as we headed south through the
toll booths. I do hope I'm not unwittingly offending any members of
this NG who are Subaru owners, but what a bunch of idiots! They were
like little children showing off their new toys. Is it that they
never had Scalectrix when they were small?

God forbid they were having fun, Harry! Curse them.
I see your imagination has kicked in though. Too many pre-conceptions about
car enthusiasts.
They don't have defective silencers - they have flat four engines which
sound different. There is also little chance you'd have seen them in mid
"wheel-spin". I was once one of said "subaru enthusiasts" and one thing you
couldn't get the things to do was wheel spin.
Burn the clutch out maybe, yes, but wheel spin? no. They have clever
traction control mechanisms that stop you doing that and they are 4wd so the
first thing to spin if you dump the clutch is the clutch, to much smoke and
smell of burning.

They aren't children showing off new toys... they have a secret that they're
happy to keep.

I've been driving high performance Soobies for
12 years and have yet to spin any wheels.
Defective silencers reduce performance...
The smoke you saw was probably diesel
fumes from your own car.
We take pride in our vehicles and I have
yet to see one being driven as irresponsibly
as yer average twat in a body-kitted Corsa
or Saxo with a bean can exhaust and a zillion
watt ground pounder annoying the hell out of
anyone within 500 yards.
Go get a test drive in one...you'll buy it if you
can afford it.

Are you deficient in some way?

Err sorry, you didn't write that. The authors of that thread are
deficient in someway though. maybe just very old.

Sorry Clive,

I guess I just jumped in there :)

I get a bit annoyed with people who come onto this forum just to slag
off subarus or their owners.
