Strange things happening with the Subaru

The radio, CD player and windshield wiper all of a sudden stopped
working today going down the highway,
went to a store and when on the road again things were working fine.
The car did not stall out, any ideas about what
specific electrical malfunction would cause this?

I'd put a bad ground somewhere on the list of possibilities.

Same thoughts here, and from a later post in this thread, it'a 2001 OB.

If you need a good *independent* S00bie shop, give us your location.
Most of us A.A.S regulars have found good ones, and are willing to share
them. They are your best help other than here.
If you were in the Seattle area, I'd point you at Smart Subaru.

(I get no baksheesh/payola from them. Just good advice and wrenching0

I'm a usual contributor on electrical stuff here, have been doing about
every side of electricity and electronics for 55+ years. Installing
2-way radios and then maintaining them on everything from City Light
bucket trucks to Cushman 'metermaid scooters' to Seattle FD fireboats
does do something for a learning experience.

This one probably needs some "hands on". If you haven't done the
"obvious" stuff like replacing the battery negative-side cable and done
the usual scrape-clean/goop-up maintenance stuff, it does get a little
hairy. Japanese automotive grounding practices tend to be a little
bizarre. That's why I'm pointing you at using a S00bie independent shop.

Stone J; I'm guessing you are in Michigan.

Michigotcha's a salt-for-ice state. It's about a +9 guess that there's
corrosion issues on the whole wiring system. Hopefully, it's mostly
under the hood, and if so it's not a *huge* (as in scrap the car) fix.

"Shit this is it, all the pieces do fit.
We're like that crazy old man jumping
out of the alleyway with a baseball bat,
saying, "Remember me motherfucker?"

Sometimes ,grabbing different cable bundles and moving them around
will duplicate the symptom. Even bouncing the car - though that rarely
helps with troubleshooting.

let us know what you find OK?
