I have a USDM 05 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport that snapped the timing belt around 400 miles of me purchasing the vehicle. When pulling the engine, I discovered that the original EJ25 NA SOHC engine that was supposed to be in the vehicle was swapped to an EJ20 NA SOHC engine. From my understanding and what I've looked up (I'm new to Subaru's) the SOHC EJ20 wasn't made for the US market and I cannot find the correct valves to replace them. I'm honestly stuck on what to do next as the previous owner seems to have had no knowledge to the swap and I can't figure out where the EJ20 came from to get the correct parts. If anyone has any idea on a vehicle this engine could have come from I would appreciate the help. No, I don't have to money to take the heads and have them rebuilt to anyone who suggests that. I'll post images of the engine in this thread for anyone willing to help

EJ20 is a 2.0. if I am not mistaken the 2.0 and 2.5 share the same block. If that is the case you can swap the heads. I know you said no money for head rebuild but go to a u-pull junk yard and grab 2.5 heads. That's 1 option to bring back to 2.5 providing I am correct on the block. 2nd option is looking up what car other Subaru has the 2.0 in that year and look parts up using that car.
