Only major roads have decent contrast on our '26 Crosstrek nav screen. Minor roads are grey on a tan background and require close inspection to detect the road on the screen. Plus many decent roads are not on the map at all. The brightness control doesn't help.
I looked at updating the maps but apparently need an app and they have apps only for iOS and Windows. Some other time I'll park near enough to wifi to update directly. But really don't know if updating the maps would make them better.
It's almost like Subarus are for freeway and major highway use only.
