Hi guys,

Hopefully someone can help me because my mechanic is stumped. I recently had a crack in my exhaust manifold and just replaced it 9 days ago. Today I could hear a leak as I was driving and found out that one of the exhaust manifold gaskets that I had also just purchased was cracked and burnt to a crisp. The other one was fine. Any idea why? My Subaru is pretty much stock minus the axle back and midpipe. Could it have been mechanic failure by not torqueing it all the way down? Any help from my fellow subaru owners would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows why an exhaust manifold would crack the way mine did. This has been a headache and a strain on my wallet and subaru said they would have to dismount everything to diagnose it. I purchased this Subaru used and had 50K miles on it. Sigh.
