Alternator??????

I know this maybe a dumb question but i just got a new battery pulled into the house and let it idle then it just killed over and wouldnt crank back over. Would that mean my alternator is out?

Test with a voltmeter and next time, what transmission?
Test the battery and connections.
Test the battery positive connection to the fuse panel.
Test the ground connection from the battery negative to the body ground point.
Test the ground straps from the engine / transmission to the body ground points.

In Neutral or Park use a "starter" switch to engage the starter, proving the starter rotates.
One point to the battery positive, the other to the starter solenoid or at the starter relay.
