I've owned a 2017 Impreza for about 2 months now and I've noticed that when going at low speeds (less than about 25 mph) the ABS seems to randomly kick in when using the brakes. What happens is I'll begin to slow down and be using consistent force on the brake pedal, but the braking force randomly "lets up" for a second here and there, making it feel as if the brakes temporarily stop working.
This is making me nervous, because I imagine if it happened in an emergency braking situation it might result in an accident. Is this an indication that something is wrong with the car, or is this normal and something I just have to get used to?
