95 legacy power locks don't work-but I hear a click.

On my 95 legacy wagon the normal operation is that all three passenger
doors and the rear gate lock and unlock to match the position of the
driver's door. I don't have keyless entry. This morning I noticed the
power locks stopped working. Luckily they failed in the unlocked
position because I bought the car with only the valet key and thus the
only way I can get into the rear hatch is via the power locks.

I can still hear a click under the dash near the glovebox when I cycle
the drivers door lock. So apparently there is a central system in the
dash that is getting a signal from the lock, but it is not actually
unlocking the other locks. The click is the only sound. The power lock
motors don't sound like they are even trying.

I theorize that maybe all of the power locks get their power from one
wire that is somehow compromised either before or after that relay
under the dash. Does this sound like a likely reason? I didn't have
time to check fuses. Maybe I just have a blown fuse.

Has anyone had this problem before? If I want to look at that relay/
control unit, am I going to have to pull apart the dash to get to it?

I'd appreciate any wisdom. I could likely figure it out on my own in a
few hours, but any information I have going into battle is a good
asset. It might save me time working upside down under my dash, which
is never fun.

On my '99 fuse #3 covers the doorlocks. If you pull it the remote doesn'
lock/unlock anything. AFAIK, fuse #11 covers all the door locks up to a
least '94 models. Should be under the dash and should be numbered on th
board. If it's like the later ones, the map is round 180 degrees to th
actual board - can't remember!

Just a thought, try sitting on the ground with a mirror and a torch t
find the right # fuse(while *you* remain vertical) then use mirror an
fuse pliers to remove/check/swap it from the same position. Works on som
cars. Cheers

Might try some antifreeze and lube to the locks. Probably never been lubed in 25 yrs.
