04 Legacy 2.5L. New power steering pump, leak from hose on top. Advice.

So I installed the new pump, and driving and turning is great, but the top of the pump is leaking pretty bad. I disconnected the line and made sure everything looked good and reconnected everything. I popped the reservoir open so I could turn the wheel back and forth to let any air out, and my buddy said as soon as I started turning the wheel, a flood of steering fluid started coming out from where the pressure line connects to the pump. Any idea what could be causing this? I can add some pictures if you'd like. Please let me know what I could try next.
