2017 Croostrek questions

Hi,
I am considering buying a used 2017 Crosstrek build 09/2017 with 1.6L engine. I got two questions:

1. How to figure out if it is Generation 2 (I read they introduced Gen2 in June 2017, but don't know when they actually began building it);
2. If you driven this car, is 1.6L adequate?
