I have a 2010 forester with just under 150,000 miles on it. Recently the car started to act funny. I went to accelerate and it took forever. As I went to get on to the highway to come home, I was having a lot of trouble accelerating and had a top speed of about 65 mph. Wondering if it is the transmission, torque converter, or some other issue. I have no codes being thrown. The car will rev fine in neutral. First gear and reverse work fine, but after that it takes forever to accelerate and won't shift into 4th gear

There is a chance the cat may be on its way out. I've had that happen in another make and model but that's exactly what it did. The restriction in the exhaust really choked the engines power. Likewise a restriction in the engines intake would do the same, say from an extremely dirty and blocked up air intake filter for example. Same thing for a dirty fuel filter. A through service may just set things right.

^ my thoughts exactly. Had a clogged converter happen with an 08 impreza and it fits that description dead on. Just unbolt and clean it out haha 😛

Thank you for the reply, i changed the cat about two years ago but have not checked if it is clogged, the fuel pump which includes the filer was just replaced. Do you think the CAT could be out again? or anything else that could be causing this? The car drives fine until it gets to about 65 mph of higher and then feels like it is chocked up. Does not go beyond 80 mph and if is going over an overpass it has no power, so speed is reduced. Thank you!!

If it burns oil that could take out a cat prematurely. It pays not to put off repairs because doing so only makes things worse and more costly to resolve later on. Including needing to replace the car because it has become not economically sound to repair.
