Hi there, I just bought a 2010 and my code reader is saying “ P0028 Intake valve control Solenoid circuit range/ Performance bank2” Just wondering how serious this is and if it’s something I can fix at home fairly easily. I’ve noticed the engine stalls occasionally after idling for awhile with the A/C on. I’m in Hawaii, temps are mid 80’s and car was running with a/c on for at least a half hour with only a short drive between idling, any help is appreciated, thanks.

Older post but this should help the next Subaru owner.
Amazon parts are hit and miss, get an OEM solenoid.
Make sure the oil changes are more frequent, these are oil control solenoids to advance or retard valve timing.

An SSM scan tool (Subaru Select Monitor) will also help. Bank 1 and Bank 2 should closely follow each other during different RPM ranges while driving the vehicle with a new solenoid. A defective solenoid or restricted oil flow with not allow Bank 1 or Bank 2 to follow each other.

Access this type of scan tool to help with diagnosis.
