1997 legacy 2.2 to 2.0 non-turbo swap?

Hi every one, im a mechanic and i have been working on subarus for ever and i have done 2.0 swaps in place of a 2.5 but for the life of me i cant rember if i can drop in a 2.0 where a 2.2 was. I have a 1997 legacy with a n/a 2.2 and i want to drop in a n/a 2.0 if possible, i can build "franken" motors if need be/if possible. Im just trying to not "build a new harness" if possible, i would even run 2.2 heads on a 2.0 block if that can be done, help! Lol
