'02 OBW Trailer Harness Connector

Anyone know where it is or if the car has one? I was told I needed some
kind of converter vs just splicing in a harness/plug for a trailer.
thanks,

I don't know where the connector is in the '02 OBW. In my '97 OBW it
is behind the access hatch for the left rear tail light.

You need a converter because your trailer has combined turn signal and
brake lamps, like American cars, but your OBW has separate turn signal
and brake lamps, like European and Japanese cars. The converter is
available at any store that sells or services utility, camping or boat
trailers. Last time I bought one it was about $15.

The harness on my 20003 Outback is located on the left side of the rear
compartment. To get to it, you lift up the left side deck cover ( it is
held by plastic snaps which release easily). The harness terminated in a 6
pin plug. I got an adaptor from E-Trailers which included the correct
connector to plug into the vehicle harness. Very easy installation, plug it
in and route the wires thriugh a plastic hole plug in the spare tire well!
Any hitch dealer should have this adaptor/harness. The instructions which
came with my adaptor were wrong, they showed the vehicle's connector to be
in the tail light housing for the Outback and in the left side on the rear
compartment for the Forester. Following their FORESTER instructions, I
found my connector.
