well at least they were thorough.
I don't think hard driving would affect the valve body, it's a bunch of electromagnetic solenoids that open and close electrically. it would affect the CVT metal belt and pulleys as these are high friction wear items. I guess if the previous owner really beat on it, metal debris could have fouled the valve body? metal particles though are designed to be trapped by a magnet on the drain plug.
who knows, solenoids do fail all on their own sometime, but i would expect a check enghine light and fault code for that. either way it's fixed so that is good news.
