i have a 2011 legacy with 2.5l. When removing the timing belt if timing makes were not exactly lined up, how can the engine timing be realigned to proper positions?

2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5L
SOHC Engine EJ25 version

Watch the video and read the included instructions (Section 15.Timing Belt)

The timing belt didn't break while the engine was running / driving correct?

Replace the rollers and adjuster with a quality timing belt.

Belt did not break and idler pulleys and water pump along with timing belt was replaced recently. I had to replace the VCT solenoid. I know what timing marks to line up. For some reason I mislined the marks. The center toothed sprocket looked like it was maybe off by 1 or two teeth. I need to now how to realine timing marks if out of sequence.

The video may help but read the attachment, it is part of the factory manual.
With the timing belt removed DO NOT ROTATE THE CAMSHAFTS. They will strike the piston that is top-dead-center.
If the marks are close to the attachment, then remove the timing belt and slightly change the position of 1 to 2 teeth.
The video will help you install the timing belt in the correct position and correct order.
