Software Updates?

How often is new software available for the Legacy (or similar).
Is there a way to sign-up for notification with Subaru or is it just a matter of periodically connect the car to WiFi to check?

If it is safety related, Subaru will send a direct notice.
If unsure, call / register with a local dealer supplying the VIN and current mailing address.
Other updates can be inquired using the VIN of the model via service department.
Asking the dealer when supplying the VIN, will list any updates that are available with a description of the update.
