OBD II software

Hi,
Both of my kids drive 2000 Impreza RS. Boy's one is souped up.
Thinking about getting a PC(notebook) based OBD II software.
I already have ELM serial interface box.
Any suggestions/recommendations of which is good one to purchase?
TIA,
Tony

Tony, are you getting it to do programming to the car, or just to read
any codes that pop up? If the latter, Autozone pulls the codes for
free..... I'm not even sure what type of programming can be done to
these cars....

Hi,
There is no auto zome where I live, way up here in Alberta.
Have an older version of Digimoto but I noticed they changed their
interface box to different chip base. So I was hoping to get something
else. Not interested in programming, just as general maintenance tool.
Anyone tried a Proscan package?

Hi,
Been a while. Boy finished school now. Working a consulting civil
engineer. Trying to let him learn and take care of his own car now.
So I can really retire into country side and hide, LOL.

Tony, have they had their RS's for very long? My son has had his about
2 months. There aren't many RS owners here. Would be interested in any
experiences, issues they have had with theirs.... My son's is slightly
modded, with an intake and exhaust, as well as strut tower braces and
aftermarket 17" wheels. It's a great-looking car....

Hi,
We bought them new. Red for girl, Blue for boy. Daughter's one is stock
except Iridium plugs and better stereo in dash. Boy's has been mod'd
quite a bit. Heavier clutch, 17" rims, both front and rear
springs/adjustable struts, sway bars/link,
strut tower braces, master cylinder brace, mod'd chip, header and
exhaust, Iridium plugs, CAI, etc. Also stereo improvement with powered
sub. Dyno test showed ~190 Hp. Handling is excellent. Both cars have
been reliable but they both had rear wheel bearing going once(only one
side) Was getting very noisy.

Hi,
Oh, also we installed FTI, short shifter kit.

Do you have one of his units? What's your experience with it and how's the
documentation?

I use PCMScan from Palmer Performance Engineering. It can use a variety of
interfaces and has a scripting interface if you are ambitious enough to
program your own PIDs. Works well for me and it costs $100 US.
