I own a 2015 Forester and my security system dashboard light has started flashing oddly. The light used to flash every second or so when the system is armed. Recently it started flashing quickly for about 30 seconds and then a double flash every second or so. It seems obvious that this is a warning of some kind of problem. I took the car to my local dealer for an unrelated repair and mentioned this possible security system problem to the technician. He looked into my concern and told me that this is normal and the flashing light can change the flashing pattern for some unknown reason. This lack of knowledge on the security system concerns me. Has anyone else had this problem?
I called Subaru of America to see if they could confirm the technician's diagnosis and they told me they refer technical questions like this to the local dealers. The told me to return the car to the dealer and try again to get it fixed. It seems to me like I'm getting the "Run Around".
