Both of mine (03 Outback, 06 WRX) have security - I don't recall if it
was an 'option', quite likely it was on the Outback.

they have been trouble free. The 'beeper' could be louder on the
Outback.

you can also upgrade them from the stock level, puts a motion sensor
and a hood switch (i believe)
