This is my second post. I wrote several months ago that the passenger seat airbag did not engage when I sat there in my 2025 Legacy. I weigh 100 pounds. I was told the airbags should engage at 80 pounds. The driver seat works when I sit there. I also had a 2025 Legacy rental while the service department was working on my car. It did the same thing. However, when riding in my husband’s Outback and son’s Forester, the airbags worked when I sat in the passenger seat.
I filed reports with Subaru Corporate, the NHSA, Ohio Attorney General, and also Brunswick AutoMart Subaru in Brunswick, OH. The Brunswick Subaru Service Manager added sensors to my passenger seat, as Corporate did not offer any assistance and told me that’s the way the car was engineered. I requested a recall or notification to all 2025 Legacy owners, but corporate rejected any of my requests.
The band-aid sensor fix by Brunswick Subaru worked until mid-July. I told Brunswick Subaru’s manager, and he also said he contacted corporate again but we both have not gotten any response. I have everything documented in the event, I am injured while riding in the passenger seat. I don’t have the energy to do anything more at this point. My post is solely for small adults, like me, to be aware that the 2025 Legacy does have a safety defect that possibly could be life-threatening. If you have teenagers or children that weigh 100 pounds or less, be aware and be safe!
