New tires increased road noise

Hi, my 2017 Impreza Sport was never a quiet ride. As it’s not a luxury model, I didn’t expect it to be. However, ever since I got new tires, Continentals instead of whatever brand came with the car, I’ve noticed my ride is significantly noisier—much more road noise. I mention the change in tires because I don’t believe the change in noise is related to the age of the car, and new tires are the only variable. Any thoughts?

I didn’t. I just took the recommendation of my mechanic, who is an authorized Continental dealer. I believe they are good
tires but perhaps not the quietest for my car. I’m open to suggestions and want to know if anyone has had a similar problem

I got talked into Contis on one of my current rides. Never again. Love my BF Goodrich Comp-2 sets. Some places will take them back within a small mileage period.

What didn’t you like about the Contis?

Reduced grip and they couldn't handle aggressive driving at all, despite being marketed for it. They melted and came apart at the edges. Super soft sidewalls so they need a LOT of air. Comparison under the same conditions, Conti vs BFG. No comparison at all.

Believe it or not, the tire's tread pattern has a lot to do with the noise one hears while driving a car. If you research tires at Tire Rack, they have Reviews in the test section and will note which tires are loud or quiet. This is good information, even if you buy the tires somewhere else. I find that tires with parallel grooves and non-agressive gaps in the tread pattern usually do pretty well. I luv my long-lasting Michelins, but I also like to run them at a higher air pressure than the sticker on the door.

Yep! I had to replaced a no longer available Goodyear Assurance directional tire with a new Goodyear Assurance tire that was not directional. That tire is so noisy that the whine it makes at any speed is distracting ... it's worse at expressway speeds. I will purchase four new tires after I complete my research into what is a good, quiet, stable and economically priced tire.

Anyone have a recommendation for such a tire? I'd appreciate some recommendations.

Every set of Continentals I've ever owned (between cars and bikes) has failed me at one time or another.
