Oil Leaking from Oil Pan.

Guys...I need some feedback. I have a 2017 Impreza Sport five door wagon. Took in my vehicle for a 90K mile service and I asked them to check the engine because I noticed there is oil drops on the floor. I was informed that I have a leak at the oil pan. Is this a manufacturing defect/QA issue? It is a relatively a young car and I bought it brand new from dealer and have never been in accident and the vehicle has been taken care of as scheduled. Any feedback is appreciated.

Welcome to the world of Subaru oil leaks. LoL sounds about right. Subaru's are known for oil leaks. They leak at the oil pan and the head gaskets. I'm doing head gaskets on mine (2007) now for oil leak and at 150k I did the gaskets and oil pan. The pan was rotted.

Thank you for the feedback. So is over $600.00 to have the pan removed and the seal replaced reasonable, quoted by the dealer or...should I take it to a Subaru specialist? for a 2017, I think it is excessive.

I don't remember how that pan came out. I can tell you older 2.5 liter motors you had to jack the motor up to take it off. You are close to 100k (I see 90k) you might want to think about regular maintenance such as tune up and timing belt (if equipped) and water pump (if driven by belt) as well. That would be another cost down the road. Once again I am unsure of your engine size and any redesigns from when I worked on cars.
