No one else having parts of their Forrester melting? No more talk about suing Subaru? Contact me if a suit is being filed against Subaru. They can’t get away with taking no responsibility for material failure!!!

hello, i almost sued subaru but for a different reason. so im surprised about mirrors melting but what part of the car are you actually talking about???
(1) Side-View Mirror (outside) or the Rear-view mirror (inside) and lastly
(2) is the chassis around the mirror what is melting ot the actual mirror???

also depending where you live if you keep your vehicle outside and live in a place where it’s normally above 95• then a law suit would be challenging. its be much easier if you kept your car inside for it to be 100% in your favor.

In our area during the heat dome Toyota owners were reporting this as well. Official temps were in excess of 110.

if you live in an area that hot, it would damage any car at some point. I can say the qaulity of manufacturing since 2019 has decrease a lot and price have going up … with all car brands sadly. but the deal really isnt liable for a part that melted when you live in a area that has scoulding hot temps. if it melted due to some internal electrical problem then sure it would the be subarus fault. so in this case while it could just be the parts are just made with degraded qauilty then in the past which is the only thing you can really go after, i just focus on how to deflect the heat of parts that are more susceptible to damage. get sun covers for them that are white or grey or reflective. besti can think of at the moment. i would report this to —> https://www.nhtsa.gov

top right corner you can report a concern. the main reason here would be that the “safety mirrors melt creating unsafe conditions” and also make sure that you include the temp range (low - high) avg in your report.

Not only was the outside of the mirrors melted on both sides of the car, but also the side panel of the door. Because the mirrors did not fit the holders I could not adjust the mirror to see the oncoming cars. I do live in north Florida, but we have temperatures from the 30’s-60’s in winter, and mostly in the 70’s to 90’s in summer. No other card in the same parking lot has their mirrors that melted. If it was not faulty material, how can you explain the fact that I was the only one in the huge complex with melted material!

What are you trying to tell me? That I shouldn’t be looking for a law suit because the material is at fault? I do live in north Florida but the span of hot weather is only during the summer. Not enough to cause this melting. I live in a large apartment development and no other cars had their outside mirrors melted, along with side panel on the door. Since I have had the mirrors and door replaced, and because someone in this site reported that the second set of mirrors also melted, I bought covers for the mirrors. I dutifully put them on as I leave the car, and take them off when I use it. Totally not necessary if I had not had this happen.

I had correspondence with Subaru and they actually stated that they had not heard of this happening before….which was refuted when I read this happening to others thru this Forum. They refused to do anything about it. Case closed.
I feel I have reason to be upset, and still worried that it will happen again. I love my Subaru, but this was just too much…..

im not saying you dont have a reason to be upset, you do completely. i love my subaru and when the dealer deliberately did put lube stickers on my car i forgot and didn’t get and oil change on time they said it was a silly lube sticker not their fault i now have a bad engine. even tho im disabled.

so if every other car has perfectly fine parts in comparison to yours. then yes there is some serious issue. it just hard to establish something without visual representation of whats going on.

you need a lot of information before you can take this against subaru. once you get it, go to the attorney generals offices and report a safety concern to the site i gave you earlier. its very important.

youll need the part number of everything that melted so it can be identified.

i can help you find it: what year, model, is your subaru.

I am not looking to start a suit against Subaru, but to join one already in progress. I had read that a Subaru owner was looking for collaborators in his suit. I am too old to do this on my own. I have a 2019 Forrester. If there is anyone out there, or maybe many out there, who feel as I do, I am willing to join in. Thank you for answering me Lovefire. No one has before.

I just enjoy helping people, I understand the feeling of disliking getting screwed over by a company that’s supposed to help you and then neglect responsibility; because honestly, we all deserve better than that.

There’s different types of Sideview mirrors on the Subaru 2019. so I need to know what trim model you have; base trim, premium trim, sport trim, limited trim, or the touring trim.

this link explains the 2019 Trim differences if your not sure

Update: there are like 6 different version of the outdoor mirror for the 2019-2023 forester. so i wasnt able to narrow down which one specfiicly your forester could have since it requires more information about your vehicle. So my advice is to call subaru parts department, then tell them you need help getting the part number for the outside door mirror( left and right), then have you vehicle VIN number ready to help them find the exact part for your car.

once you get this info, you have what you need, you can also tell me the part number and then i would be able to find it on there site as well for you. i tried the the subaru parts website is a mess, everything is labeled wrong. . .

but calling suabru parts department , that they easiest method.

in addition, i found out that the 2019 subaru forester - side mirrors can have a heating element inside. so you want to make sure your model does or doesnt have it. if it does have it maybe its malfunctioning along with the hot temps that could contribute. if you dont have a model with that function in side mirrors then that leaves just hot temps which then leads to a poor qaulity part. once you have the part number you can just look it up and see what functions it has. understanding why this is happening is important before building a case. usally its class action since then the firm takes the costs not you the victim. still just wanted to help give you some sense of direction.
