How do you feel about your car? Other cars? Luxury cars?

On the other hand, we could all buy Indianapolis Colts jerseys and feel
good about ourselves while shouting "we're #1!" ;)

Sorry, can't do that either. The NFL is rigged. They handed the
championship to the Colts in the semi-finals so that their darling boy,
Peyton could have a ring.

Besides, how can you say "we" if you aren't even on the team?

I apologize profusely for the triple posting. The OP had a bogus email
address that was bouncing. My bad.

But I'm proud of that...

One of my kids as well as two of my co-workers attended the University of
Phoenix. They are typical of UofP students in that they were working full
time and could only attend at night. The classes are generally taught by
people working in the field. Classes are often broken into working groups
of students who arrange among themselves to meet and produce whatever
product the class demands. Having graduated many years ago from a
"regular" college, it seems to me the UofP approach may be superior.
Generally speaking, the students are mature, eager, volunteer learners
willing to sacrifice their time and money to get a degree. Most of those
attending with my son were paying their own way, being helped by their
employers or getting some kind of student aid.

Thanks for the input. I still have my doubts about any school that
advertises. Something not quite right about that, somehow.

I agree, and add that the phrase "a credit to your race" may actually
encourage racist thinking.

That was my point. It's saying that you're different from others of your
race, because they don't usually do as you do. Utter bullshit.
IMHO, we should take no pride in what others do, just as we should take
no pride in what we were born with. I didn't choose my parents, and
neither did anyone else. So whether we're tall, short, black, white,
yellow, etc. is nothing in which any of us should take pride. It's
simply a fact of heredity. What's important is what we do with the
gifts we inherited.

We SHOULD take pride only in what we accomplish ourselves or something
to which we actively contribute.

You don't have to convince me, but I'm sure your lesson is lost on that
troll.

Tell that to my NE Patriot hubby! Then duck.

It is awfully hard to take advantage of the opportunity to learn when kids
are running amuck around school, and you live in a shelter and don't have
a table to do homework on.

It might be difficult, but it isn't impossible. And, that's not what you
said the first time. Your sentence structure made it appear that the
opportunity was not presented, and that would be a fault of society or
government. The point I was making is that the opportunity is always there
if one has the capacity to take what is presented.

To be sure, some presentations manifest themselves better than others, and
that is a reflection on society or government. But, no matter the quality of
the presentation, NOT taking full advantage is a reflection of the kid. Now,
the kid may have issues beyond his or her control, but that isn't what you
said that I responded to.

I think you're giving the NFL far too much credit for superb planning
and control.

That doesn't stop millions from doing it, though! :)

The NFL is rigged?

Right......

The U of Phoenix has a location in the office building where I work.
I think the
top couple of floors maybe. When I get off work at the end the day, I
swear,
I see a goodly number of U of P "students" coming in for evening
classes,
and the group is about 99% black. All getting it paid for not by
themselves
I'm sure. I can't imagine that U of P provides much in the way of
education
from the look of most of the students coming in at this location. I
think
somebody's money is likely being swallowed up by U of P.

What has this got to do with cars bigot?

Sorry, you probably don't know what a bigot is ...

UoP sounds like a damn good place.

@e65g2000hsc.googlegroups.com>,
(e-mail address removed) says...
That's true of all UP students, regardless of their race or income,
and we found so few of their graduates who applied for jobs were
qualified that we now automatically reject anyone who lists UP on
their resume.

Do you also "automatically reject" anyone from a
different ethnic group? Another Imus fan...

Right......

Do you have proof to the contrary? How do you explain the series of bad
calls that provided the Colts their trip to the superbowl. By the way,
the officials later admitted they "blew" those calls. And yes, the
Patriots would have easily handled the Bears, much like they did the
Chargers and the Colts until the refs started the silly calls.

There are quite a few radio celebrities that I have a really hard time
figuring out why they matter. Imus is one. Howard and Rush too. I can
understand how each would have a small niche following, but how does
that propel them into the national spotlight? They are all turd balls
in their own rights. Strictly my opinion, mind you...

Stern doesn't really bother me, since he usually picks on people who should
be able to take it, but the others you mentioned have manage success I can't
fathom for a second.

A degree is a degree. For professions where pay is based on degree U
of P and others are fine. You pay you get degree you make more!

UP is so bad that we don't reimburse employees for it.
