So after owning a 2013 Outback for 6 years and a 2009 Forrester for 10 years, I just found out about the head gasket issues that are common in many Subarus. My Forester has 91,000 miles and needs it done. I was quoted $3200 ( including timing belt and coolant). A friend just had it done here and paid more.
The service technician told me all five of his have needed this . I thought it might be because we hadn’t kept any cars long enough yet, but I know others who have and haven’t had to have it done with their Hondas (over 100,000).
My brother works in another state at a Subaru dealership and said that is expensive. They get about $1,700 to 2,000 for it there. (I’m guessing Denver is more expensive. )
He asked if I got a 2nd opinion. I plan to. He also said the difference between leaking and damp is a big deal.
