full screen stopped working. Dealer says have to buy new one for $1500. Any options

My whole unit had to be replaced. I appealed to Subaru of America at 1-800-782-2783 at ext 119301 and they helped with the cost.
I mentioned the age of my vehicle and miles on the car, and the fact that I have always owned a Subaru. Good luck!

I agree with the basic troubleshooting first. Worse case, I don’t think the replacement is a heavy lift. I am pulling mine this weekend to replace the screen to get rid of the ghost touches and the YouTube video showed the guy prying the plastic framing off and I think there are only 4 screws holding it in, followed by several plastic wiring harnesses that pop apart. I have also seen used Subaru radios on eBay for about half the new cost, but if not new, yep, it’s always a gamble.
