Base model 2014 Impreza with about 92,000 miles. Took in for a thorough checkup at 90k - fixed a leak in transmission oil pan, replaced differential fluid, replaced brake fluid, replaced a spark plug, replaced oil & oil filter. Mechanic noted wear and tear on control arms but I didn't have those replaced.
After that work, I have noticed a high pitched whistle/resonance noise coming from the engine area but only when I am at or above 60mph and only while accelerating. The noise stops as soon as I start to coast, no matter the speed. I also noticed the noise gets higher pitched while accelerating at higher speeds. I haven't noticed any other performance issues with the car.
Anyone seen this before? Is it something to deal with right away or just a new quirk?
