Recently purchased a Subaru Forester, Touring trim. About 5 days ago the backup camera image changed from full screen to half screen, now a fisheye image (11.5 display). I have read several other posts (internet) who have also experienced this, but no one posts anything about how to correct this. We called Subaru and the Subaru customer advocate had no idea of what to do. We called the dealer tech. rep. who walked us through the use and options features of the car, but she is not returning our calls!

We have searched the settings menus and could not find anything. Some people have suggested that it might be tied to use linking of phone to the Forester?

Does anyone have any idea how to change the view back to the full screen?

I have a sneaking huntch it was previously zoomed in on a fisheye image, if that helps any.

Cameras are too cheap to make make optical zoom practical.

That's why smart phones have multiple cameras these days. The camers are cheaper than expensive zoom optics. Smaller and lighter too.

Today, many selfie or face cameras in phones are about 2.5mm to 3mm cubed including the lens. The whole shebang is fabricated on a silicon wafer. Hundreds of cameras are fabricated at a time on one 12" wafer. All done in a wafer foundry.

Typical backup camers are larger but not a lot larger. Still incredibly small and cheap compared to yesterdays technology. Small and cheap enough to put multiple cameras in today's cars. Not to mention the performance advances.

Last month, I bought a 2025 Outback Premium because its rear camera displayed a large, full-screen image. Today, when I was backing up, I noticed the camera only took up half of the screen, and I could barely see. I don't know what to do, and I'm starting to hate the car.
