Forester XT Premium -VS- Outback XT Limited

OK, I thought the Forester was the SUV, but looking at the specs, it
would appear that the Outback & Forester are both SUV's ?
The Outback also has almost an inch of increased ground clearance.
Would someone tell me how they differ other than external appearances.

The Forester is based on the Impreza frame, the Outback on the Legacy. I
think those are the major differences. The Outback looks like a beefy wagon
and the Forester has a little more emphasis on utility.

The Forester also has less overhang for off roading but, in my opinion
neither is good for anything but soft off roading.

It's like comparing a Honda CRX to the Honda Pilot, except with
the Subarus, both just happen to have the same engine. The
Outback XT is longer, wider, has nicer trim, better NVH, and costs
up to $6K more. The Forester is lighter and the cargo area is
better suited for taller packages.
