2023 Legacy Premium, Is there a way that the dealer can eliminate the ridiculous fake shift points? I want a CVT to be a CVT, not some phony 6 speed automatic trans.

Key Word search: Subaru fake CVT shift points (read to the end)

Read everything you can BUT many are NOT experts by any imagination.
Shift points are software driven via engine load interpretation.

DO not void any warranty and expect a "tuner" to address your concern. Only Subaru Firmware can.
The noted "shift points" address the "non-believer" of how a CVT operates or behaves.
Most consumers don't trust the operation of a CVT,
I will not and have condemned many to a transmission shop (all models included).
The new ones however don't seem to have any problems - when they are correctly serviced.

The discussion is no different than the Ford "fake engine noise" coming from the sound system.
Take the time read about that disaster and how people buy into it.
No different that new Subaru owners buying into a CVT.
"Sure feels like the old chev honey, it shifts great, what do ya think honey, buy it"?

My advice, leave it alone and crank up Pavarotti's Nesun Dorma or even better:
"Miss Sarajevo" U2 and Brian Eno with Luciano Pavarotti.

I like a CVT to be just that, a CVT, not with fake shift points. Every time I drive the car and feel the simulated shift points, I cannot help but think, this is putting excessive wear on the belt and servos in the CVT and cannot be good for reliability. I mean how can a clunk/jump/pulse into another shift point be any good for the trans? These simulated gear changes are as ridiculous and having paddle shifters on a CVT. The paddle shifters are so slow to react anyway, I never use them.

Each to their own. I hate CVTs and love the "fake" shift points. I also use the paddles quite a bit. I wouldn't change a thing! :)
