1. “Free” first service did not include tire rotation despite the fact they recommend it. Had to pay.
2. Received no survey after the service to comment on this.
3. Worker called to schedule next service. I told her I wasn’t happy and probably wouldn’t be coming back for service. 100 mile round trip. Asked her to have a manager call me. Crickets.
4. I recently retired and have three cars. Two well-maintained older cars and this new 2025 Impreza. Decided to buy everything I need to do my own tire rotations and oil changes. Did the two older cars first. Today I did the Impreza
5. The oil plug was so tight I had to gently use an impact wrench to remove it.
6. As I cleaned the plug so I could put on a new crush washer, I noticed the plug had two crush washers WTH? Did some research. Took a closer look. The one crush washer had some black paint on it.
7. My conclusion? At the first oil change, the crush washer was probably stuck to the oil pan and painted over. It happens. The tech apparently didn’t notice that the crush washer did not come off with the plug. Instead of wondering why and removing it from the oil pan, the tech carelessly just put on a second crush washer. Apparently he/she then really cranked down on it - to stop a leak?
8. The plug is very short. Shorter than my other two cars. Two crush washers on such a short plug probably had some negative effect on the seal that he/she addressed with brute force.
Anyway, I did it right. I’m being very careful to document well my own work for warranty purposes. Subaru oem oil etc. Receipts. Good records.
