a series of dumb questions

dear group, i am considering purchasing a late 1980's wagon with the 5 speed
g/box,
has anyone had experience in transplanting a turbo motor in one of these
things?
also what is the cost of replacing the cv joints, I am in
melbourneAustralia. The wagons are fairly cheap to buy here, but I am unsure
of cost of fixing them up...please reply to group,,and there will be more
dumb questions to follow. Thanks in advance. Tim

Hi Tim,

I had an 86 L Series, that I transplanted the turbo from Leone XT into...

Fits in quite nicely, and once everything is running properly, is an
extremely powerful off-road machine... Mine had a 4" variable lift kit, and
a lower low range gear set fitted...

Took me 3 weekends to rebuild the turbo motor, fit it, and get it running...
Then took it down to the Subaru dealer for a service... :)

thanks for the information, the next dumb question is,, is it possible to
make the beastie all wheel drive?
I am not really looking to make an off road vehicle, just a "q" car or "rat
"car depending on which country you live in,,,, Tim ( the dreamer)

Not AWD, but if you have a donor car, the 4X4 tranny, rear drive
shaft, and complete rear subframe (diff, torsion bar, arms, hubs,
axles, etc) is an easy bolt on; way less intimidating than the turbo
project will be.
