1990 L series wagon, warning lights

Hi all,

noticed something weird today that i cant work out.
The car is an Australian (Jap built) 1990 L series 4wd wagon
EA82 1.8 motor.

Some of the warning lights (Charge, Stop Lamp and Brake Fluid,
and not the others) are glowing at idle. As i rev the engine they
fade to almost not illuminated at higher rpm. Most odd.
Anyone know a possible explanation.

Also this may or may not be related. The car has been running a bit
hot lately (last 6 months) I figured the radiator was on its way out.
Or maybe a sticking thermostat?
If i turn the a/c on (and hence the auxillary fan) it cools down a
bit (note the a/c needs gasing so this doesnt cool the inside of
the car down :-( ).
Well today when the warning lights started showing the engine
was running back at its old mark on the temp gauge showing no sign
of getting hot...?????
