6 months new car found rust occured on catalytic converter

I bought a Forester Sport demo 2020 which has been running 6 months on the road, I am surprise to find many rusty spots ONLY on catalytic converter section (see picture), the muffler and other pipes are perfect. The salesman said don't worry and it is normal. I wonder would there be others have the same experience as me?

I will be purchasing a Forester Sport - basically already did. Anything I should keep an eye out for upon me heading back and solidifying it.

I am as well buying a demo, loaner, car looks clean, has 4200 miles on it.

Says it's fine however I need to be more mindful of what to keep in mind!
