Recently, I drove a rental car that supported Android Auto and I really enjoyed that it allowed me to display and use Google Maps for navigation instead of the vehicle's built-in Nav system.
I love my 2016 Legacy Ltd. 2.5i (which came with Eyesight/full Nav, etc.), although I've long been a bit unhappy with its built-in NAV, even after I updated its maps.
So I checked and learned that my 2016 Radio/Nav unit cannot work with Android Auto, but that 2018 and later Legacy units DO support Android Auto.
I certainly don't want to buy a whole new car just to be able to run an app, so I'm wondering whether it's physically possible to replace my 2016 Radio/Nav unit with a unit from a 2018 or later Legacy? And, if so:
1. Will such a later year Radio/Nav unit work correctly in my 2016 Legacy;
2. Which of the later year Legacy unit(s) should I look for; and
3. How difficult will it be to successfully perform the unit exchange?
Thanks
